Project: Starlight
This project focuses on the design of an innovative awning with retractable arms. Our team of engineers and designers worked together to study die-cast aluminum parts with high structural performance and compact overall dimensions.
An initial style research was carried out to find the right design feeling the client wanted. Various sketches were submitted to give the client different options to choose from.
A crucial point of the project is the elbow of the retractable arm, where a solution to mask the tension strap has been studied to create a refined final appearance. All parts of the tent have been subjected to rigorous FEM analysis.
To facilitate the understanding of the design we have created several renderings sets, also simulating the effect of lights at night. One of the objectives of the project was to create an environment with indirect lighting using LEDs placed in the arms and the awning as a diffuser element.
