Project: Urban reach
For this project, we collaborated with Marchetti Autogru, a Piacenza-based company specializing in mobile crane design. Their goal was to launch a new electric City Crane, inspired by the Trio 28.10 model. The project involved the joint involvement of engineers and designers, who, working closely together, created a product capable of combining style, technical innovation, and sustainability.
The design process began with a formal research phase: first with sketches on paper, useful for exploring different stylistic solutions, and subsequently with the creation of preliminary 3D models, essential for defining volumes and proportions.
From there, the design and three-dimensional modeling of the individual components began. During this phase, Eping’s engineering and design departments collaborated seamlessly, maintaining constant dialogue with the client to ensure the new City Crane met three key criteria: high performance, market competitiveness, and a perfect blend of aesthetics, cost optimization, and reduced production times.
A key aspect of the project was the driver’s cab. Starting from the existing Trio 28.10 model, numerous modifications were introduced to adapt it to the vehicle’s new dimensions. The goal was to develop a cab that respected the required dimensions, guaranteed all the required functions, and met ergonomic and operator comfort criteria.
After defining the executive model, the design process continued with the study of the graphics and liveries, designed to emphasize the vehicle’s volume and highlight its electric powertrain. In this way, the new City Crane not only meets operational needs but also clearly and immediately communicates its innovative and sustainable identity.
